About Wespastor

Wespastor started this conversation

I plan to up date this as best I can to fill in the gaps of my history. So, if you are a freind please stop by frm time to time to she what changes have been made.

I am new at all of the changes my body has gone through since September Last year (2008). I was diagnosed in 2005. And from everything I have read sofar I have had mild symptoms all of my life. When younger I could not run fast or far -- I made it through NAvy basic training by the skin of my teeth. And broke my legs Trying to complete the five mile run. I was 16 then.

From that point til about 1990 I was pretty much normal -(Whatever that means) Cool I began having symptoms again and went through a battery of misdiagnosis. Until I was refered to a neurologists and had an EMG in 2005. Which pretty much confirmed I have type 2 CMT. From that point I went down hill pretty quick. The bones of my right foot are completely shattered. The left is close behind as I try at times to bear my balance upon it. Of the surgeons I have consulted one said it was inoperble. Another wanted to amputate it. I now have a third that will try to do the impossible. He said we can rebuild it maybe and in January we shall try. Today, I am in a wheel chair except in my very small apartment where a walk with a walker but not for more than a few feet (fatigue hits me real hard), I eat with adaptive tools. I have no feeling in any of my extremeties and I have severe muscular atrophy in all of my limbs. Even if and when the surgery is successful the only thin I will gain is the ability to wear shose that are somewhat normal. For now I have a Solid Plistic C.R.O.W. Walker on the right and a custom molded frankenstien boot on the left.

Through it all I have learned to be more pateint about things, learned to be more forgiving and acepting of others for who they are. I know who I am and whose I am. When one may ask, "how I am doing", I say one of two things, "My heart is still beating" or "I am looking at grass blades and not grass roots." Laughing

And one fine day in the by and by when I am gone from this world I can truly say --- I am free at last, free at last --- thank God almighty, I am free at last.
